Capt: How can soldier refuse job assigned by a general?

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday rebuked Navjot Singh Sidhu over his resignation from the state cabinet and asked, “How can a soldier refuse to do the job assigned by a general?”

Amarinder’s reaction came as Sidhu took to Twitter again on his resignation. “Today I have sent my resignation to the Chief Minister Punjab, has been delivered at his official residence...(sic),” he tweeted. On Sunday, Sidhu had tweeted a photograph of his resignation letter from the state cabinet that he had sent to Rahul Gandhi on June 10. Sidhu’s key portfolios were changed in the cabinet reshuffle on June 6.

The CM, who met the PM for a ‘courtesy call’ in Delhi, later told reporters that he would take a call on Sidhu’s resignation on return to Chandigarh. Amarinder pointed out that he had changed the departments of 13 ministers, including Sidhu, but only Sidhu had refused to take charge of his new portfolio. “How come out of 13, 12 have assumed office … Today, I am told that he has delivered the resignation to my house in Chandigarh. He never sent it to me till now,” he said.
