Farmers want fertilisers out of GST ambit: Hooda
CHANDIGARH: Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said the Congress manifesto committee has decided to seek suggestions from the peasants of Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh on ways to find solutions to the problems affecting the farm sector. Hooda, who is a member of the party manifesto committee, said in a statement said that a meeting in this regard was convened on Tuesday where progressive farmers from Haryana and Punjab as well as the representatives of farmers unions and association participated.

Certain measures like complete farm debt waiver, fixing minimum support prices for all crops, scientific solution and provision of financial assistance to tackle the problem of crop residue were suggested for inclusion in the party manifesto during the meeting, Hooda said.

“Taking out fertilizer, farm implements, pesticides and spare parts of tractors out of the ambit of GST was also suggested by the farmer representatives,’’ Hooda said.
