Post-beer party, Class XII kids vandalised 16 cars

A Class XII student with his six friends smashed the window panes of 16 cars in sectors 37 and 40 recently to take revenge against his economics teacher for scolding him for remaining absent for three days, police said on Monday.

Police arrested the seven accused, which included five minors. Six of them are residents of Sector 41and the other stays in Sector 56. Five of them study in the same school. All of them are students of Class XII.

Police said the main accused, a student of a government school, was angry ever since his teacher had rebuked him in the class. He decided to avenge the “insult” by smashing the window panes of his teacher’s car. On July 26 night, he called his friends to his place for a night-out. They sat on the roof and had a couple of beers, police said. The main accused convinced the others to join him. All of them in three vehicles — two Honda Activa scooters and a motorcycle — went to Sector 43, where the economic teacher resides. However, due to the presence of a PCR vehicle near the house, they could not execute their plan. They them moved towards a government in Sector

37. From there, they started collecting stones from a roadside and smashed window panes of cars parked in sectors 37 and 40 just for fun, police said. They also stole articles from a few cars, which were recovered. All the five minors were sent to a juvenile home, while a court remanded the other two in police custody. Police suspect they could be involved in other incidents of vandalism too
