Body in suitcase dumped at Karnal was of Uzbek ballet dancer

The woman, whose charred body was found stuffed in a briefcase near the house of a former Haryana minister in Karhans village in Karnal, was identified as that of Shahkhunoza Shukurova, an Uzbek national. Cops have revealed that the murder was committed by her friend in Delhi and the body was dumped in Haryana.
The gruesome murder had come to light when a suitcase was spotted by some locals on September 25 in the fields of one Azad Singh. The village is situated at some distance from the New Delhi-Ambala national highway. Police had registered a murder case at Samalkha police station in Karnal. Now, it has come to light that she had been murdered by her friend Naaz, another Uzbek national, over money matters. This was revealed by a team of Delhi Police on Monday. The team had come to Samalkha with a car driver identified as Gurvinder Singh, who is said to have brought the body here along with Naaz.
Sources said Delhi Police had registered a case of abduction of Shahnaz at Kotla Mubarakpur police station in New Delhi in September and the crime branch solved the murder mystery through call detail records of the victim. Shahkhunoza had made the last few calls to Naaz. In his confession before the cops, Gurvinder said they had murdered Shahnaz in Delhi and stuffed her body in a briefcase to abandon it in Haryana.
Samalkha DSP Gorakh Pal Singh Rana confirmed the development. “Today, a joint team of the crime branch of Delhi Police as well as cops from Kotla Mubarakpur brought Gurvinder here.He identified the spot where the body was abandoned and the briefcase. We have taken samples of his finger print for forensic examination,“ said Rana.
He said that as they have already preserved the deceased's DNA samples for mapping, they have called her mot her for examination. “Once our tests are over, we shall hand over the investigation to Delhi Police,“ the DSP added.
Cops said Shahnaz was a ballet dancer and had come to India in 2011 on a tourist visa. She was living with the accused Naaz, who owed her Rs 8 lakh.
Shakhunoza Shukurova, 25, was abducted from the South Extension market around 10.30pm on September 24 by a man identified as Gagandeep, and another dancer, Naaz. Police say Gagandeep, who claims to own a placement agency in Kailash Colony, killed her and drove the body to Samalkha in Haryana in his blue Tata Indica car and tried to destroy it by burning behind a former MLA's farmhouse. The charred remains were found next morning.
Police got some leads in the case after Gagandeep was arrested and confessed that he had killed Shukurova because she wasn't paying up Rs 8 lakh. Gagandeep has told police he drove around south Delhi while Naaz and Shukurova exchanged hot words, but after some time he stopped the car on a deserted stretch near the Delhi-Haryana border and strangled Shukurova.(courstey Nov 17 2015 : The Times of India (Chandigarh)
