COURSTEY MIRROR MUMBAI  MARCH 21 ASK THE SEXPERT
DR MAHINDER WATSA

1 I am a 19-year-old man. Can aggressive fingering cause the hymen to break too? My friends say it can.

Your amateur sexpert is right, except that the hymen can also break by light stroking, athletics, swimming, masturbation and so on.

2 About a month ago, my wife stopped appearing to get aroused during sex. Earlier her vagina would be well lubricated after even a little foreplay. But now even after a few minutes, there is no lubrication. She says she is aroused but there is not moistness, so we have been using lubricant. Is there a long term solution for this?

I advise you to visit a gynaecologist to check for infection. If present, it may be the cause. In the meantime, using a lubricant is not harmful.

3 I have been with my boyfriend for almost three years and we have always used a condom during sex. Recently we tried intercourse without a condom and while we both enjoyed it, my boyfriend now insists that we always have sex without a condom. I’m afraid to take birth control pills as I am wary of the side effects. What can I do?

Convince your boyfriend that it is wise to use a condom and an unwanted pregnancy could be of great worry. The low dose hormonal pill is fairly safe but I would advise continuing with the condom.

4 On a recent work trip, my husband bought various sex toys for me as he thinks it will spice up our sex life. I am worried about putting such Made- in-China foreign objects inside my body, especially the ones with batteries. Is there a risk of rashes or electric shocks from the use of such toys?

Your thinking is valid. It is best to avoid the ones with batteries as they could be of risk.
