Hisar, November 5

Ranjit Singh Chautala, the estranged younger brother of INLD patriarch Om Prakash Chautala, on Monday advised his nephews Dushyant and Digvijay to join the Congress.

“It will be better for them if they join the Congress. The political base of the BJP is eroding fast in the state. If they join the Congress, the party will get strengthened,” he told the media here.
Ranjit recalled that even his father, former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal, was part of the Congress in the early stage of his political career.

He refused to comment on the feud in the Chautala family, stating that he would speak out at an appropriate time.

Ranjit Singh said the Congress was in an advantageous situation, especially on 21 Assembly seats in Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa and Bhiwani districts after the turbulence in the INLD.

“Of the 21 seats, the INLD has 13, the BJP five and the Congress three. After weakening of the INLD, the Congress has the maximum advantage as the party has been in a direct fight with the INLD on a majority of seats. The BJP’s graph is on decline, so it will be a cakewalk for the Congress in this region,” he claimed
