Now, CHB offers 56 flats to Punjab, Haryana officers
CHANDIGARH : The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has offered 28 four-bedroom flats each to Punjab and Haryana for its employees under its Habitat Project at Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park (IT Park).

The board will be constructing the flats on 6.73 acres already earmarked for government employees’ housing scheme, and will cost ₹1.75 crore each. In a letter to the chief secretaries of both states, the CHB has sought their consent. In case they agree, they will be paying ₹55 crore each.

The CHB got 123 acres land back from Parsvnath Developers after a long-drawn legal battle in 2015. The board had decided to construct around 1,000 flats on two sites itself. Even as it put the remaining 18 sites on auction five times, it failed to get bidders in the past two years.

Board chairman Ajoy Kumar Sinha said: “We have already written letters to both the governments and have sought their consent.” While the 56 flats will come up in a tower, there will be a separate tower for servant quarters.

Sinha said witnessing the realty boom, he is hopeful that the remaining sites will also find bidders in the fresh auction planned soon.
