According to information, Shah also discussed the party’s strategy for the forthcoming polls and exhorted party leaders to work at the grass-root level with optimum use of social media. Though party’s prospects for all the 10 Lok Sabha seats, especially the three which are represented by INLD and Congress were discussed, no discussion took place on the candidates in the meeting which lasted till late evening.

Out of 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, the BJP has seven, the principal opposition party Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), two – Dushayant Chautala (from Hisar parliamentary seat) and Charanjit Singh Rori (Sirsa), and Congress has one one – Deepender Singh Hooda (from Rohtak).

The BJP had trucks with the then Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) whose leader Kuldeep Bishnoi had contested from Hisar and HJC’s Sushil Indora, from Sirsa and both had lost to INLD candidates. In Rohtak, BJP’s OP Dhankar had lost to Deepender Singh Hooda. The HJC had later merged with the Congress.

The 17 committee members and others presented at the meeting included Union ministers from Haryana Rao Inderjit (MP, Gurugram); Krishan Pal Gurjar (MP, Faridabad) and Birender Singh (Rajya Sabha member); chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar; Haryana party in-charge Anil Jain; organising secretary Ram Lal; state president Subhash Barala and minister Ram Bilas Sharma; state finance minister Capt Abhimanyu; Anil Vij and O P Dhankar and party national secretary and former MP Sudha Yadav, media advisor to chief minister Rajiv Jain, Haryana backward classes and economically-weaker sections welfare corporation chairman Ram Chander Jangra, besides some others.
